I have been teaching gymnastics for over 28 years. I have various qualifications from UK & NZ including a current NZ first aid certificate. I taught competitive gymnastics in Auckland until 9 years ago when I moved to the Tasman area.
In class we teach children to have fun while staying active, using equipment to explore and develop their gymnastics skills. Younger children learn to land on their feet and not their face. Encouraging children to spin, roll and cartwheel helps develop their balance and coordination, simple target practice drills while waiting for a turn on the apparatus help with hand-eye coordination, crossing the mid-line to develop the brain and its neural pathways. All this is done in a positive, child focused, safe environment.
Parent coaches help to run the sessions, keeping the children safe on the equipment and maintaining low coach to child ratios.
